New Livestock Feed Page
We created the Livestock Feed Page this morning to highlight livestock feed providers that we recommend and those that we don’t. When talking with different farmers this morning, when asking them about their feed choices for their livestock, I kept hearing Purina and Onate. I called Onate this morning and asked if their feed ingredients contained corn or soybeans from non-gmo sources, and the receptionist, very abruptly said that ‘Onate has no idea what’s in the ingredients they buy.’ So, those of you relying on Onate for your feed source, you might want to think twice and find other supplier if you can. I’ve not spoken with Purina yet, but I can almost guarantee it’s the same story there as with Onata. After doing some digging, I found a wonderful source just north of Santa Fe called ‘Embudo Valley Organics’. I was a little leery when I called up there I was going to hear – yes, our feed is ‘organic’, but it does contain gmo soybeans and gmo corn. But, no, Johnny McMillan (the gentleman I spoke with) said that they go through great effort to bring in non-gmo ingredients. They do sell their feed through local retail outlets here in Albuquerque, and to find which ones, call Johnny at (505) 579-4147 and tell him that you learned about him from Albuquerque.OrganicsSource.com if you wouldn’t mind.
